Most carriers have "SMS gateways" which take actual email messages and send them to their customers cell phones as SMS text messages. The only thing that you need to know is what carrier the recipients phone belongs to -- its not enough to know their phone number, since the carrier determines what the email address of the receiving phone is going to be.

US Users: We now provide a web tool so you dont have to find your recipients provider.

We have compiled a LARGE list of providers/carriers from where you can choose the recipients one, making it easier for you to send SMS messages.

Please go to http://www.gp-imports.com/sms/ there is a link to a forum so we can all share our experience setting up providers.

Most carriers permit the recipient of the sms message to answer it in the usual way.

For the recipient it works as a regular SMS message (billed according to his/her plan).

Most carriers limit this kind of message to 180/200 characters.

Sending this message is absolutely FREE; you will not be charged for sending it as a text message on your phone bill, since its being sent as an email from your phone.

This application will let you add/edit/delete carriers as you find the need. Weve compiled a large list of providers and included them into this application.

The application works with the following languages:

Language support for English, French, German, Japanese, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Russian, and Polish.
Our next version will include: Greek and hebrew.
International keyboard and dictionary support.

Yes! Ipod touch users can also use this application.

Keywords: easy texting, easy messaging, ipod and iphone.

Pros and cons of SMS Big Keyboard Deluxe app for iPhone and iPad

SMS Big Keyboard Deluxe app good for

This program works as advertised, I have tested it with almost everyone in my contacts list and the all have recieved my text and I recieved responses in my e-mail. This will come in handy when I reach my text limit..although it is an extra step to go through e-mail it is well worth it to have that extra avenue of communication if needed.. god job guys.
Free texting, awesome. Especially for people like me that dont have texting but can use your email account with this app on the iPod. Best dollar Ive spent on applications. :)
I dont get the overall rating of 1.5 stars. How does that math work?
Works great the only reason i didnt rate it five stars is because you can only have so many letters in the text message or It will be cut off so you cant read the other half of it but other than that it is definatly worth the $0.99

Some bad moments

Waste of time. Still waiting for true horizontal keyboard to use on SMS save your money
Is worse than plain begger... Those who buy iPhone dont bother about "free" SMS; they need something that really works. Your way of begging $1 is indescent. Better go at the nearest street corner.
Its a good work around for iPod Touch users like myself. I wish you could continue to reply to replies much like you would hold a conversation via text. I would also like to see the recipients name associated with their reply. Now if we could only talk for free via an iPod my world would truely be complete. Hehe ;)
It works good but I think instead of showing the email when u receive the text it should be the name or number !!! its good other then that..
U cant store numbers on to app Every time u send u have to got to your adressbook I want my money back
if you didnt have to asking EVERYBODY what service they use, it might be more user friendly.
